Labeller

Quick-change star wheels for a COMEN labeller

COMEN is an Italian labeller for glass bottles. Here the star wheel hands the bottle to the labelling carousel, and if it does not arrive centred, the label may go on crooked or the bottle may jam. We fitted Bottleneck star wheels with a black base and white quick-change grippers, built on the COMEN geometry.

It is the same line as the ENOBERG Monoblock and the Nortan capsuling machine.

The solution

What we built for the COMEN labeller

White quick-change grippers

The grippers clip onto the base and come off by hand, keeping the centres of the machine. For every bottle only its own gripper set is made.

Base on the COMEN shaft

The black base was designed by reverse engineering the labeller shaft, with the logo engraved. It goes on once and never comes off.

Marking per set

Each gripper set carries its own marking, so the operator sees at a glance which one is on, without measuring or remembering.

The result

What changed on the line

The grippers change by hand, with no labeller adjustment and no technician. The base went on once.

All three machines of the line (ENOBERG, COMEN, Nortan) now run on Bottleneck grippers, so the bottle changeover follows the same logic along the whole line. A new bottle takes a phone call and the drawing or a sample of the bottle. The new gripper set is ready in 3-5 working days, with no visit and no measurements on the machine.

COMEN labeller: common questions

I have a different COMEN model. Does it fit?

COMEN builds many labellers, with different star wheels. We measure your station on site, or we work from photographs and dimensions.

How many gripper sets do I need?

One set per bottle, for every station that carries a star wheel. We tell you exactly how many after the line assessment.

Do you run a COMEN labeller?

Send us a photo of the station and the bottle you want to run. We will tell you what is needed and what is not, with no commitment.
