Quick-change star wheel for a Nortan capsuling machine
Nortan is an Italian capsuling machine: it places the capsule on the bottle neck and tightens it. While it tightens, the head pushes on the bottle, and if the bottle is not held steady it tilts and the capsule sits crooked. We fitted a Bottleneck star wheel with a black base and white quick-change grippers.
It is the last machine of the same line as the ENOBERG Monoblock and the COMEN labeller.

What we built for the Nortan capsuling machine
Grippers on two levels
Two rows of grippers hold the bottle high and low. With two points of support the bottle does not tilt while the capsule is tightened, so the capsule sits straight.
Base on the Nortan geometry
The black base was designed by reverse engineering the capsuling machine shaft. It goes on once and never comes off.
Only the grippers change
For another bottle only the gripper set changes, on both levels. The base stays in place and the grippers keep the centres of the machine, so no adjustment is needed.

What changed on the line
The grippers change by hand, with no adjustment of the capsuling machine and no technician. The base went on once.
All three machines of the line (ENOBERG, COMEN, Nortan) now run on Bottleneck grippers, so the bottle changeover follows the same logic from start to finish. A new bottle takes a phone call and the drawing or a sample of the bottle. The new gripper set is ready in 3-5 working days, with no visit and no measurements on the machine.
Nortan capsuling machine: common questions
I have a different Nortan machine. Does it fit?
Nortan capsuling machines come in different layouts. We measure your station on site, or we work from photographs and dimensions.
How many gripper sets do I need?
One set per bottle, for every station that carries a star wheel. We tell you exactly how many after the line assessment.
Do you run a Nortan capsuling machine?
Send us a photo of the station and the bottle you want to run. We will tell you what is needed and what is not, with no commitment.
